Horst Antes, Paintings
Horst Antes has been working on the topos of the house, a house without windows and doors, since the 1980s.
Ceremonial clay vessels of the Ewe
In the Wodun religion of the Ewe in south-eastern Ghana and in Benin, clay vessels embody the ritual bond between people and gods, a relationship of mutual giving and taking.
Horst Antes has devoted himself to non-European and non-academic art for many decades. The clay vessels are part of his extensive collections.
Boschetto
The Boschetto is located on the slope above the house. Horst Antes’ aim here is to find a balance between the surrounding nature and his work.
One house one image
The Chiesa di San Giorgio alle Spadaio is a small, decommissioned chapel from the 12th century in the municipality of Barberino Tavarnelle. It lies by the roadside and is not normally accessible. It currently houses a major work by Horst Antes. It is possible to visit the chapel from Sicellino.
