Historical Clothing and Fabrics from Uzbekistan

Uzbek textile art is known for its handcrafted silk fabrics. The exhibition features woven fabrics and caps from around 1900. The chapan coat, also known as a khalat or don, was worn by both men and women. Depending on the season, they were lined with different fabrics, which also held spiritual significance.

Luciano Teghini, Painting

Luciano Teghini lived in the neighboring village of Panzano from 1944 to 2022. He was a self-taught painter and draftsman. Houses, trees, and agricultural tools were his motifs, but he also created “research works” on telecommunications, such as the “Solar Machine” and “Network Transmission.” In addition to the exhibition in Sicellino, there is a permanent presentation of Luciano Teghini’s works at the Casa del Popolo in Panzano.

Film screening in the presence of the director

During the pandemic, filmmaker Giovanni Cioni worked on a project about migration and its traces between Ventimiglia and Menton. The more he researched, the more fantastical archives revealed themselves, such as those of the eccentric Dr. Voronoff, who conducted experiments on monkeys here in the 1920s to sell eternal youth to humans. Cioni assembles images and voices into an ominous fairy tale in which frogs narrate human dreams of a better life.
